All the fun we had in NYC
This post is a little too late as the trip was in end of May. We are back after yet another exciting trip this time around to Stamford, CT and New York City. I had a work conference to attend in Stamford and took couple of days off to enjoy NYC. We stayed right in the heart of NYC on Broadway at the Radisson Martinique and our two night (FREE) stay at this hotel was off the hook!! We got upgraded to a Junior suite which was AWEEESOMME!. The hotel has a strong French influence and architecture reminded me of The Hotel Du Louvre we stayed at when in Paris last year. Beautiful marble floors and spiral staircases was all too classy!! I earned the free stay here by signing up for the Club Carlson Visa Signature Credit card that will help you earn 85000 club Carlson points. I took advantage of the promotion (now discontinued) where Club Carlson would thrown in an extra award night for every award night you would book using points for holders of the credit card. Each night stay easily runs upwards of $350 for the Junior Suite and I simply used 50,000 points total for a two-night stay at this hotel.
I got tickets for Hop-on-hop off NYC from one of the street vendors. I highly recommend purchasing tickets from the street vendors as they will strike you a nice deal (bargaining works thanks to the Indian in me) and the discounts are better than the website. I paid a total $100 for two tickets which include entries to museums, hop-on hop-off ferry and all the bus routes the tour company offers including the night tour for the two days of our stay in NYC. The hop-on hop-off counts as a travel expense so I was able to charge it on my Barclay Arrival Card and redeem it as a travel credit so the actual cost was much lower than $100 I had to pay.
The Food part
There is so much to do in NYC and the food is great. We hogged on the halal food for most part which is cheap and there is a cart at every corner. I highly recommend eating at the carts owned by Halal Guys. Be prepared as the lines could almost run couple of blocks. Another not to be missed NYC special are the Spot Dessert Bars. We spent at an average $25 each day just eating desserts. I would go back to NYC just to eat these yummy and unique desserts at the Spot Dessert bar.
The Money making part
The trip was even more exciting as we netted $1300 between my wife and I before leaving NYC and I will explain here how we did it. Chase bank currently is running a promotion until July 15th that could help you earn $300 when you open a new bank account, fund it with $50 and set-up a direct deposit. I simply transferred money from my Target Redcard to the new Chase account and it accounted as a direct deposit. The $300 showed up in less than 10 days of completing the red card transfer. You can also make additional $200 if you deposit $15000 within 10 days of opening the account. My wife and I were able to complete both the requirements and we made super easy $1000. Also, the Chase bank was right below our hotel in NYC. Let me know if you need a coupon for this deal. Simply leave a comment at the bottom of the blog requesting the Chase coupon and I will gladly send you one. Remember promotion end July 15th. Chase banks are not in all states (like here in Richmond, VA) but if you are traveling to any states which do have a Chase bank than getting this offer definitely makes sense. Remember any bonus you earn from banks is counted as interest so bank will send you a 1099 at end of the year for tax purposes.
We also made another easy $150 each by opening a new checking account with Citizens bank (again most branches are in North East) while in Stamford, CT. Here is a direct link to this offer : LINK. Thanks Danny Deal Guru.
